Flammenwerfer

Music Theatre

Flammenwerfer is Hotel Pro Forma’s new music theatre performance inspired by the life and art of celebrated Swedish visual artist Carl Fredrik Hill (1849-1911). Carl Fredrik Hill lived with schizophrenic paranoia, a condition that isolated him from the rest of the world. Flammenwerfer is based on his beautifully poignant and strong artworks from a period of illness where dissolution from reality, nature, paranoia, megalomania and longing for something else characterised his life. On stage performing will be Blixa Bargeld and vocal ensemble IKI (five vocal performers).

Flammenwerfer gives us insight into the prolific painter's life whilst reflecting on mental illness, aiming to decrease stigma, build empathy and encourage activism through this multidisciplinary performance of music, visual arts, poetry and theatre.
