Reckless Sleepers was formed in 1988, taking its name from a painting by the Belgian surrealist Rene Magritte. The company or Project was formed out of a multiplicity of ideas and concerns, mishaps, accidents and opportunities.

Reckless Sleepers is based in Nottingham (UK) and Gent (Belgium). The company creates original theatre pieces, installation projects and interventions for theatres, galleries, museums and sites that entertain and challenge audiences, viewers and participants.

Mole Wetherell, artistic director of Reckless Sleepers, is the creative driving force and a visual artist and performance maker. Mole has independently created work for galleries and museums, sound installations, and dance projects.

Reckless Sleepers is supported by The Arts Council England.

Quaternaire represents Reckless Sleepers worldwide, except Great Britain.
