Michel Lemieux Musique Performance was founded in 1983 and, touring worldwide with its audacious multi-disciplinary productions, the company soon proved itself to be on the cutting edge of the performing arts. In 1990, Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon jointly assumed the artistic direction of this company devoted to research and creation, adopting a new name: Michel Lemieux /Victor Pilon Création 1996.

Lemieux and Pilon have worked together to create a new form of theatrical production: a hybrid of the physical and virtual worlds, of the stage and the cinema. To achieve this mix of media, Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon experiment freely with technology while maintaining a distinctly humanist component in their creations.

In their creative process, Lemieux and Pilon draw upon all forms of artistic expression and explore the relationships among the various creative disciplines. To better reflect the multi-dimensional nature of their artistic direction and creations, 4D art was adopted as the company's new name in 2001.
