OperAct is a laboratory of artists from various disciplines (opera, theatre, dance, video art…) whose aim is to fuse these different genres and to develop a new artistic vocabulary for opera productions. OperAct will present its productions within traditional theatre spaces and outside of them – in atypical venues such as round or bi-frontal venues, tent spaces, industrial warehouses, galleries.
OperAct also organises parallel events alongside the opera performances, enabling us to put the work in a historical, political, social and cultural context, hence making the impenetrable world of opera more open to today’s audience. The parallel events programme can be in the form of exhibitions, films, documentaries, cabaret evenings or conferences.
