Founded in 1985, Hotel Pro Forma is an international laboratory of performance and installations. The architecture is part of the performance as a co-player. Perception, perspective and themes from the present-day world intertwine to form a conceptual, visual work of art. The productions, more than 32 major creations, are characterized by immense diversity as the result of a close collaboration between professionals from many disciplines : the visual arts, architecture, music, film, literature, science and digital media. The artistic directors are architect Ralf Richardt Strøbech and visual artist Kirsten Dehlholm.
Hotel Pro Forma has toured in Europe, Asia, USA and Mexico.
Hotel Pro Forma is currently working on a new Darwin opera, “Tomorrow, in a year”.
Kirsten Dehlholm is the founder of Hotel Pro Forma. With a background in the visual arts Kirsten Dehlholm started her work with theatre and performance art in 1970. Kirsten Dehlholm’s current work includes concept and direction for Hotel Pro Forma, directing opera and theatre pieces for institutional theatres, and giving lectures and workshops at international centres.
